In a press release today, Xpeng announced a partnership with Malaysia’s Sime Darby Group, designating them as the official distributor for the Hong Kong market. The agreement was formalized at Xpeng’s Guangzhou headquarters on April 9.

The collaboration will see Sime Darby opening the first Xpeng flagship store in Hong Kong by the third quarter, featuring the Xpeng G6 SUV and the Xpeng X9 MPV.

Xpeng’s flagship models are scheduled to debut in Hong Kong in mid-May, with deliveries expected to commence in the third quarter of this year.

Entering the Hong Kong market is strategically significant for Xpeng, serving as a pivotal step towards its global expansion strategy.

Brian Gu, Xpeng’s Honorary Vice Chairman and Co-President, expressed confidence in the partnership, citing Sime Darby’s extensive sales experience in the Hong Kong automotive market.

In addition to Hong Kong, Xpeng announced a partnership with Xin Kang Heng Group in Macau to introduce models including the G9, X9, G6, and P7i. Deliveries of left-hand drive Xpeng models in Macau are slated to begin in May.

Xpeng has intensified its internationalization efforts in 2024, with plans to launch an internationalized left-hand-drive version of the G6 globally in the second quarter and a right-hand-drive version in the latter half of the year.

Recently, Xpeng debuted the G9 and P7 in Germany and aims to enter other European markets, including France, Italy, and the UK.
