In a recent live stream on Douyin, Lei Jun announced that deliveries of customized SU7 vehicles, including standard and Max variants, have commenced in Beijing and Shenzhen, well ahead of schedule.

Lei highlighted that SU7 orders have exceeded initial forecasts by three to five times, prompting Xiaomi to ramp up production to meet the high demand.

The SU7 was officially launched on March 28 with three versions — Standard, Pro, and Max — priced from RMB 215,900 ($29,820). Deliveries for the Pro variant are scheduled to start by the end of May.

Xiaomi also introduced a Founders Edition limited to 5,000 units, which received significant pre-orders upon its release on April 3.

Xiaomi’s EV delivery network currently spans 29 cities in China, with plans to expand to 40 cities by year-end.

Regarding future EV plans, Lei mentioned that Xiaomi is focusing on the SU7 for now and declined to disclose details about upcoming models, including an SUV or lower-priced options.

Additionally, Xiaomi is considering introducing more color options for the SU7 in the second half of the year, according to local media reports.

With SU7 deliveries underway and strong demand, Xiaomi’s entry into the EV market is off to an impressive start, showcasing the company’s commitment to electric mobility in China.
