The 2024 Zeekr X undergoes a transformation, phasing out the previous lower-priced entry-level version while maintaining the other two options, now offered at reduced prices.

Zeekr, Geely Holding Group’s premium electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary, introduces an upgraded version of its Zeekr X SUV, an uncommon move considering the model’s brief tenure since its official launch less than a year ago.

For the 2024 model year, Zeekr presents a five-seat, four-wheel-drive version and a four-seat, rear-wheel-drive variant of the Zeekr X, both starting at RMB 200,000 ($27,880).

Originally launched on April 12, 2023, the model featured three versions, including a five-seat rear-wheel-drive option starting at RMB 189,800, and two other variants starting at RMB 209,800—a five-seat four-wheel-drive and a four-seat rear-wheel-drive.

This revision involves eliminating the lowest-priced five-seat rear-wheel-drive version while reducing the starting prices of the other two by RMB 9,800.

The 2024 Zeekr X maintains its power source, equipped with a Li-ion ternary battery pack boasting a 66 kWh capacity and a CLTL range of up to 560 kilometers.

Despite introducing Golden Battery’s lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry-based battery on December 14, it is not integrated into the 2024 Zeekr X.

Constructed on Geely’s Sustainable Electric Architecture (SEA), the Zeekr X stands as a typical compact SUV with dimensions of 4,450mm in length, 1,836mm in width, 1,572mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,750mm.

Zeekr initially aimed to disrupt the compact luxury market, dominated by Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi, when launching the model nine months ago, but achieving that goal appears challenging.

As Zeekr’s third model, following the Zeekr 001 and Zeekr 009, the Zeekr X targets a niche market. The Zeekr 007, released on December 27, represents the company’s first foray into the mainstream EV market.

The five-seat version of the 2024 Zeekr X is equipped with dual electric motors, boasting a combined maximum power of 315 kW and accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.7 seconds, with a CLTC range of 512 km.

In contrast, the four-seater version features a single rear motor with 200 kW, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, and a CLTC range of 560 km.

Customers have the option to equip the four-seat Zeekr X with dual motors, reducing the acceleration time to 3.8 seconds but slightly decreasing the CLTC range to 500 km.

Zeekr achieves a milestone by delivering a record 13,476 vehicles in December, contributing to a full-year 2023 total of 118,685 vehicles.

December Zeekr X deliveries amount to 2,329 units, a 50.59 percent decrease from November’s 4,714. Since May 2023, the model has accumulated 22,372 deliveries.

Zeekr sets an ambitious goal for 2024, aiming to deliver 230,000 vehicles, doubling its 2023 achievement, as announced on Monday.
