Headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, EV-Tech revealed the signing of the strategic cooperation agreement with Nio in Shanghai on March 1. The partnership entails the joint development and production of products based on Nio’s STEM Young platform, facilitating the creation of intelligent power units (IPUs) to be utilized across various vehicle models. These IPUs are expected to enhance product development efficiency and reduce costs.

The adaptable Young IPU product is designed to cater to multi-brand and multi-platform models and is scheduled for delivery to both Nio and its subsidiary starting in 2025. Furthermore, the partnership will focus on collaborative research and development of emerging high-voltage system technologies.

Previously recognized as a supplier to Nio, EV-Tech has been awarded the Quality Excellence Partner Award from Nio for three consecutive years. The company specializes in the development and manufacturing of high-voltage component products and serves as a major supplier of on-board chargers and on-board DC/DC converters in China.

The collaboration underscores Nio’s commitment to innovation and its transition to ultra-high-voltage platforms, as evidenced by the upcoming release of the ET9 executive flagship sedan built on a 925 V ultra-high-voltage platform. The industry’s shift towards higher voltage systems, ranging from 550 to 900 V, aims to enhance charging speeds and reduce vehicle energy consumption.

EV-Tech, founded in 2011, operates with over 1,600 employees and boasts a research and development center in Hangzhou and a manufacturing facility in Huzhou, Zhejiang. Supported by Nio Capital since 2017, EV-Tech’s products are utilized across various electric vehicle product lines, including those of Nio, GAC Aion, and Great Wall Motor’s Ora brand.
