Huawei and M Hero in Discussion Over Priority Partnership Models.Huawei has forged a strategic alliance with Dongfeng Motor’s high-end electric off-road brand, M Hero, following a recent agreement with the automaker’s Voyah brand.

In a recent press release, Huawei’s intelligent vehicle solutions business unit announced the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between M Hero and Huawei, aimed at establishing a comprehensive smart car industry ecosystem.

M Hero, renowned as China’s premier luxury electric off-road brand, aspires to lead the luxury electric off-road culture, leveraging Huawei’s extensive expertise in smart connectivity and intelligent driving technologies.

The collaboration between the two entities aims to accelerate the commercialization of Huawei’s smart car solutions and propel M Hero to the forefront of China’s luxury electric off-road market.

Dongfeng unveiled the M Hero brand on August 27, 2022, along with two concept vehicles: the M-Terrain and the M-Terrain S.

In August 2023, M Hero’s flagship model, the M-917, was launched, offering both a battery electric vehicle (BEV) version and an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) version, priced at RMB 697,700 ($97,060) and RMB 637,700 yuan, respectively.

While Huawei’s press release does not elaborate on the specifics of the collaboration with M Hero, local media outlet National Business Daily reports that discussions are ongoing, with a focus on partnership models centered around parts supply or the HI (Huawei Inside) framework.

The final partnership arrangement will be determined based on the evolving product and technology landscape, according to a source at M Hero cited in the report.

Huawei’s collaborations with automotive manufacturers span three main models of cooperation. These include joint brand launches for car production, termed Zhixuan, as well as providing components and the HarmonyOS system independently. Additionally, the “Huawei Inside” model involves offering comprehensive smart car solutions, encompassing smart cockpits and driving technologies, to partner automakers.

Presently, Huawei has established partnerships with several leading automakers, such as Seres, Chery, Changan, and JAC. Notably, Huawei and Seres are jointly developing the Aito brand under the Zhixuan model.

On January 22, Voyah announced a strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei to enhance the smart mobility experience, with further details yet to be disclosed.
