Exclusive: Nio’s Second Brand, Possibly Named Onvo, Revealed in Uncamouflaged Spy Shots.

Recent uncamouflaged spy photos circulating on social media unveil what is believed to be Nio’s second brand, codenamed Alps, potentially named Onvo in English and Ledao (乐道) in Chinese.

The leaked images provide a clear view of the vehicle’s rear end, showcasing the English brand name ‘Onvo’ and its Chinese counterpart ‘Ledao’ (乐道), along with the model number ‘L60.’

Notably, both ‘Onvo’ and ‘Ledao’ are already registered trademarks by Nio, adding weight to the authenticity of the reveal. Nio’s trademarks for Onvo span various categories, including transportation, while Ledao trademarks are predominantly for transportation as well.

The spy shots also indicate the absence of LiDAR technology atop the vehicle, replaced by what appears to be cameras positioned on each side of the windshield.

Reports suggest that Alps’ smart driving system will integrate a single Nvidia Orin X chip, differing from Nio’s conventional setup. This deviation, coupled with a lower-cost smart driving solution, positions Alps to disrupt the market, aiming for pilot-assisted driving in urban areas upon delivery.

According to Nio’s founder and CEO, William Li, the Alps brand is set to debut in the second quarter, with the first product launch slated for the third quarter and mass deliveries anticipated in the fourth quarter. The inaugural model will directly rival Tesla’s Model Y, boasting a bill of materials cost approximately 10 percent lower.

With further plans for an SUV tailored for larger families, Alps is poised to make significant strides in the automotive landscape, offering competitive alternatives to established players like Tesla.”
