Chevrolet Overhaul: Unveiling the Bold Evolution of the Hardcore-Styled Chevrolet Explorer
Known for its rugged appeal, the Chevrolet Explorer is undergoing a radical transformation that sets it apart from CRV and Qijun’s comparable models. Chevrolet is actively gearing up for a comprehensive replacement plan for the Explorer.
Unlike many international models, the upcoming generation of Explorers is set to undergo a thorough transition to new energy, incorporating a new plug-in and pure electric power system to meet the ever-growing market demand. Post-replacement, the lineup will feature the original 2.0T fuel version, alongside a new 1.5T plug-in version and an EV variant.
The new model will also see enhancements in design and size, with a slight increase in overall dimensions. The car’s length will be 4653 mm, and the wheelbase will stretch to 2730 mm. Despite this growth, the Explorer remains relatively compact compared to domestic cars, which generally upgrade to 4.7 meters.
In terms of design, the fuel and plug-in versions share a similar aesthetic, featuring a large rectangular air grille and a belt-type sealing car, exuding a strong presence. The minor differences lie in the modifications to the medium network, with the RS version sporting an exclusive red logo.
The EV version of the Explorer undergoes a significant aesthetic transformation, adopting a penetrating light group at the rear and a front face design reminiscent of the Toyota New Crown. Overall, the Explorer EV surpasses the fuel version in terms of appearance. The dynamic performance of the Explorer lineup is commendable, with the fuel version equipped with a variable cylinder 2.0T engine boasting a maximum power of 174 kW, comparable to Cadillac’s engine.
Additionally, the new 1.5T plug-in model features a maximum power of 127 kilowatts, a 140 kW motor, and a 16.5 kWh BYD iron phosphate battery. The pure electric battery life reaches an impressive 80 kilometers. Positioned as a top-tier RS sports model, the EV version boasts a dual motor layout with 143 kilowatts in the front and 68 kilowatts in the back, along with a ternary battery. Acceleration performance and battery parameters for the EV version are currently undisclosed.
The new generation of Explorers exhibits robust product features and distinctive highlights, showcasing a decisive and profound transformation. Chevrolet’s subsequent preferential policies are expected to further boost the sales of these new models, which are already available for purchase at around 100,000 yuan. With its potent product attributes and competitive pricing, the new Explorers aim to make a mark in a fiercely contested market, rivalling established classics such as the Song PLUS and Galaxy L7.
