Part of the Ocean series, the BYD e2 first hit the market in 2019, offering an affordable alternative in the new energy vehicle (NEV) market. With the latest updates, including a blade battery pack with 43.2-kWh capacity and a CLTC range of 405 kilometers, the e2 Glory Edition promises a stylish, efficient, and eco-friendly driving experience for families.

Powered by a single motor generating 70 kW peak power and 180 Nm peak torque, the e2 stands out as the most cost-effective choice in its class, targeting the RMB 80,000 price range.

BYD’s recent model updates extend beyond the e2 series, encompassing various models like the Qin Plus and the Chaser 05, all aimed at advancing the company’s vision of widespread adoption of NEVs. This initiative is part of BYD’s strategic move towards displacing traditional gasoline vehicles with more sustainable alternatives.

According to insights from a recent internal meeting, BYD is gearing up for a transformative “liberation battle” over the next three years, leveraging its technological prowess and industry partnerships to bolster NEV market penetration. This strategic endeavor involves updates to its DM hybrid system and e-Platform, signaling a concerted effort to expand its market share and accelerate the adoption of NEVs on a large scale.
